National Poetry Month
Posted by Joe | April 2nd, 2009 | 1 Comment »So as you may or may not know, National Poetry Month started yesterday. As soon as you’re able to regain your composure and stifle all the excitement you feel in your very soul, check out Poets.org for more information on the month’s festivities. What I find most helpful is their National Poetry Map, enabling you to search poetic events by state; this feature is normally available, but much more active right now. In addition to the map, they have a host of other interesting programs running for the month including their poem-a-day program (they’ll email you a poem every day of the month), a free verse photography competition, and their usual calendar which has exploded with events (another way to view events by criteria other than just state).
If you don’t like poetry, that’s okay too. You’ll probably still find the Poets.org website to be fairly interesting, especially the photography contest. Check it out. And write a poem this month, dammit.
